Process For Consideration by the Village of Lisle
The leadership of Benet Academy has proposed a plan to renew the school’s Baumgartner-Gilbert Stadium and enhance the campus with a modern stadium and athletic facility that can accommodate all the school’s sports teams and athletic competitions. Renewing the stadium will bring the tradition of hosting these events back to Benet.
The school submitted its proposal to the Village of Lisle for review and consideration. The Village is expected to host public meetings on Benet’s application over the summer.
Project Timeline:
As part of its commitment to being a good neighbor, Benet has met and socialized renovation concepts with neighbors, and the current plan reflects some suggestions offered by the community. Benet has submitted a detailed petition with required technical studies to the Village of Lisle for review and consideration. The school requests municipal consideration and approval of both project phases to provide long-term certainty and planning.
December 2023
Benet initially submitted plans to the Village of Lisle requesting improvements to the campus including renovations to the stadium and improvements to the parking lot on the north side of campus.
April 2024
Benet amends its pending request and removes the stadium renovation proposal and requests Plan Commission approval for parking lot improvements only.
June 2024
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Lisle approves the improvement plan for the north parking lot on campus.
February 2025
Benet submits plans to the Village of Lisle requesting approval to modernize and improve the stadium and athletic fields. The revised plan incorporated changes based on the feedback received from the initial plan developed and reviewed in 2023/2024.
March 2025
Benet leadership meets with neighbors to review the revised plan for improvements to the stadium and athletic fields.
Highlights of a few of the changes we’ve incorporated based on the community’s input and suggestions:
- The scale and size of the stadium and bleachers have been reduced.
- The lighting plan and proposed pole locations have been adjusted to mitigate potential impacts.
- The location of the proposed structures has been reconfigured.
- The proposed parking lot expansion on the north side of the school has been eliminated.
- There is no longer a right-out exit onto Maple Avenue to the west of the stadium.
June 2025
Prior to formal hearings, Benet leadership meets with neighbors to review and discuss modifications to the stadium improvement plant, including reviewing changes made since last informal listening session.
July 2025
Expected: July 16, 7 p.m., Plan Commission hearing on stadium and athletic field renovation plan.
