The leadership of Benet Academy has proposed a plan to renew the school’s Baumgartner-Gilbert Stadium and enhance the campus with a modern stadium and athletic facility that can accommodate all the school’s sports teams and athletic competitions. Renewing the stadium will bring the tradition of hosting these events back to Benet.

The school submitted its proposal to the Village of Lisle for review and consideration. The Village is expected to host public meetings on Benet’s application over the summer. You can show your support for this transformational change by signing this open letter to officials at the Village:

Dear Mayor Mullen, Village Trustees, and Plan Commissioners:

We, the undersigned members of the community, respectfully ask for your support of Benet Academy’s proposal to renew and modernize its stadium and athletic fields. We believe it is time to provide the students who live in Lisle or attend Benet Academy with a modern facility befitting their commitment to attaining their personal best in academic and athletic pursuits.

The current stadium and athletic fields are a relic of the 1960s. We believe that investing in this portion of the campus will benefit future generations of students and athletes and is in the best interest of the entire community. The proposed reinvestment and improvement plan focuses on enhancing the student experience for all.

Today, Benet does not offer the same environment that innumerable other academic institutions in the region offer. With your approval, we can move Benet and Lisle forward.

When you support the proposal to renovate the stadium and athletic fields, you are approving an action plan that will contribute to the academic, athletic, and social growth and development of students for decades to come.
